I check the classifieds every few weeks just out of interest as much as anything -

Now I've done the math on trying to work out if I can afford a V8s and its looking promising....

just dont tell the missus - i'm banking on buying a BRG one and hoping she doesnt notice the difference..

how many are up for sale in the classifieds at the moment?

I noticed that too but it appears to be pushing the prices of the V6 up, seen some between 7 and 10k!

Good for sellers then!

Mine hasn't even appeared in the classifieds, but I was hit with several interested e-mails within hours of posting on PH that I may have to sell.

It wasn't that long ago that there were five V8S's up for sale on PH.

Pete - you didn't haggle with me, so I'm starting to think I offered you too much!

I've been checking the forums, classifieds, Autotrader, dealers and personal websites - anywhere that there might conceivably be a V8S for sale - pretty much every single day since May. Those that did come onto the market in that time tended not to have any online provenance at all, and I've found that reading about the problems and costs in profiles, and general regard that an owner and others have for a car, has been very useful in identifying those that I should look out for.
I think I have saved off almost every picture of a V8S that has been posted on the internet!

When Pete casually mentioned in a post that he may sell his, I knew from research that the car was honest and well-regarded and certainly well worth contacting him about. It gave me confidence to make the (considerable effort in hindsight) to gather the funds for the car. I would have been a lot more cautious with most of the V8s that have been advertised, with no appreciable online trace to follow.

heh just listening to you, you did exactly the same as me. Every V8s for the last few months I have pictures of on my computer. Some had their problems and some sold before I could investigate them, but it wasn't until K400 PH member spotted I was looking for one and approached me did I get that 'I gotta have it' feeling. And you right , it's handy being able to look back over the PH history of a car.

Good luck with the car GI, sounds like a good one, I remember when Ren Dao got it

You're the bugger who stole K400 from under my nose and whipped it off to Eire. I had my eye on that! Very convenient it would have been too, with the previous owner living in Bournmouth.

Happily, Pete lives just down the A303 from me

I had planned to email all the owners with good cars nearer December to enquire whether they had any plans to sell over the winter, and K400 would have been one of the main ones along with Pete. Hope you're enjoying it.

Yeah - thanks for the self-congratulatory banter....I'm very happy for you both

Any how, - where are all the others!!!!! - what happened to Clappys one (the one with white tail lights)

I want something similar to Greenv8s's - as I hazard a guess that point to point there will be little to touch it!

though I do recall something in the profile along the lines of: 'I fully intend to be buried in it'

oh well...

I had to cry and hug my teddy when I read you'd bought K400.

Apologies for the Eire cock-up. I am unworldly.

'Mine' is still in the luxuriant cream garage of its current owner (tamer?), as we have yet to complete the vulgar exchange of gifts. Hopefully sometime this weekend if all goes well and Pete doesn't have second thoughts and sets Pickles on me.

Berg, we all want something like GreenV8S.

I thought I'd read that Darren (C14PPY) had sold his, but he may just have taken off the market to get it totally sorted like he said in his advert.

You'd think he'd save a bit of money by buying an old Concorde...

...Or just bought a new green red rose cerbera

I got my V8S by sticking a wanted ad on PH, got a few emails from V8S sellers, bought the first one I saw

There's an interesting category D V8S for auction here: www.universal-salvage.com/classiccars.asp

Almost tempted...

Pete,

I promise she will love her new tamer and the plush cage she'll bed down in.

I'm thinking of kitting myself out with the standard leopard-print leotard and whip, so wondered where you got yours from? I noticed some in your garage, along with something inflatable and pink right at the back...

Shhhh. The Mrs rarely ventures into the darkest depths of the garage. I figured that's the safest place to keep such items!

Isn't this the first of the two in the PH classifieds ? Was on at £9950, reposted at £9,450 yesterday (Think it had been on for 30+ days)

If the level of interest's there, why haven't this and the other V8 which has been in classifieds for 59 days so far, moved?

Is £9-£10k too much for a V8 - seem like reasonable prices to me?
