Modified/improved door hinges
Discussion
I understand that LeeBee can supply, or perhaps supply and fit only, new door hinges.
I have tried contacting LeeBee through his e-mail and through the forum but I don't think he looks here much as I have never received a reply.

Does anyone have details of, or can take any photos of these hinges for me to replicate?
I believe the modification involves a reinforcement plate instead of the bobbins?
It's probably best for me to used somebody elses proven method than starting from scratch.
Thanks.

I did reply to you, not sure where that went!
The plate is a repair for bobbins that have broken away from the body and is a seperate repair from rebushing the hinges
email me again and I will send you some details
Cheers

Sorry Lee, I never did get anything through as far as I can recall. A few people have mentioned that they have had e-mails bounce back from you as "undeliverable", is your link all working OK?
Re, the hinges; that will be very helpful as my driver side appears to be getting worse. Is there a kit of modified parts that you do to replace the original hinge?
The passenger side hasn't dropped at all but sounds dry despite having sprayed it well with WD40. I think this is how the bobbin problem starts isn't it? Looks like resistance in the hinge weakens the mountings. May as well do both I guess!
Cheers,
Kevin
As an aside, WD40 is primarily a water dispersant. It does work as a penetrating oil and leaves a residue that gives some protection against corrosion, but basically it's mediocre at best for long term lubrication. It can even be worse than nothing since it washes out any traces of grease there might previously have been in the joint.
