Prop shaft & UJ
Discussion
Neils,
Contact Mike at Austec. They replaced my rear propshaft UJ last April time. It was a V8S - so I don't know ifthey are the same part, - but he might be able to give you some part numbers as a lot of S cars are serviced at Austec (they advertise here on PH - I haven't got their 'phone number to hand)
Nick.

Not sure what the parts are off but David Gerald usually have them in stock and will ship them next day. Ordinary motor factors may have them but very hit and miss (especially the ones with nipples).

Hi Neils,
are you sure its the prop shaft & not one of the drive shafts clunking? I had a similar problem last month, try driving with the roof down to see if the noise is coming from a particular side, if it is then it will be a drive shaft.
there is a way to repair these without replacing them. it just means getting the car up at the rear to work on.

Why would you want to conduct a transaction with a Motor Factor who is devoid of nipples?
No problem Richard. (Most Brits pronounce it as Neil.

I'm pretty positive it's not drive-shaft related. I checked them recently and there was no play. I was also thinking about the differential, but prop shaft seems more likely to go first. When I put it in 1st and rock it, the clunk seems to come more from the middle of the car than the rear.
cheers
