TRVR S series mechanics

Sadly it's a bit "deadsville" here on PH these days, almost everyone seem to have gone over to the S series FaceBook group

There is/was a TVR Specialist in Redditch, DG Sports Cars but not sure if they are still in business? Finding a garage that want to get involved with a nearly 40 year old heavily modified car might be tricky.
Which car have you bought, there aren't too many around with Cosworth conversions? Does it look like it's been done well?
If I recall correctly, fitting a BOA or BOB egine didn't require any chassis mods as the engine mounts and gearbox were / could be the same.
Relocation of a few bits - coolant expansion, exhaust manifold routing spring to mind - should be fairly obvious if they have been bodged.
I think the biggest headache will be the electrics. What engine management system has been fitted. Who mapped it (very important). How has the wiring been modified - TVR factory was pretty ropey to begin with. Does everything work - speedo seems to be the issue with a lot of engine changes, although this may be if the gearbox was swapped too.
Can't offer a recommendation in ther Redditch area. Powers are in Coventry and I assume they do servicing as well as the rebuilds.
I'd start with inspecting the wiring and undertaking proper repairs - even the original stuff will be well used and beyond best by now - resizing where required - TVR used undersized cables and connectors throughout. Use proper water / weatherproof connectors too. TVR didn't, indeed a fair bit was solder and some electrical tape, in particular the earths.

Magpies, are you Mick Milane whose car is mentioned in the current edition of 'Sprint' page 10 'Practical Performance Car revisits Jag powered TVR S'? Blue car, (looks a jag blue colour rather than TVR colour funnily enough), with 6 spoke alloys, the cossy went in first but you were disappointed with it and went the scallywag route. If you're he, then well done buddy, excellent work, and I'd love to see it if you've still got it. What part of the country are you in?

Yes I am I live in Stockton on Tees
Yes, I've subsequently pieced it all together and gleaned from your YouTube video your whereabouts Mick, and noted you're the DRO to the Tees Valley TVRCC with Peter. Thanks for your reply. I look forward to meeting with you and seeing your car soon. I'm in Hurworth. I've only been to one club meet so far since buying my S3, but will get along to more in future. I've also checked out your "The hard work now begins" thread. A fascinating watch. Best regards, Paul
Wow Paul, that is a coincidence! Funny how things go sometimes. Yeh, I usually go to the Grange classic show, it's a great turn out for a small ish event and a beautiful setting in our lovely little village. Some fantastic cars and bikes always on display. Missed this year's unfortunately but that was a blip, will likely be there with my S3 next year, unless I've bought another car by then and take that instead, which is entirely possible with me. Won't be getting rid of the S3, but could add to it at any time. It's Ruby Red Metallic with custom V8 type exit pipes, say hello if you see me with it won't you. Best regards, Paul
