After a great weekend including Bruntingthorpe on Saturday, the top hinge of the drivers door is very loose on the hinge. The steel post appears to be stable but the door itself wobbles around it.

Any ideas what the problem is? I need to get it fixed quickly for Snetterton (three weeks time).

Sounds like you need a new door hinge bush. LeeBee did a great job on mine but that's a bit short notice.

Good luck,

Mark

just rebuilt the hinges on my doors. Very unlikely that the bush will just go. Take the door trim off and stick your hand up and feel the bolts holding the hinge to the door frame. Could just be the centre bolt has worked its way loose!

Do a search on "door hinge" or similar. I did a long spiel on it when my drivers door came loose about 16 months ago. Might have made it a FAQ even.

Sounds like the centre bolt has come loose.

Thanks Guy,s sorted it last night.

The two bolts either side of the main hinge bolt (top of door) were loose. Lifted the door tighened the bolts and now the door fits better than ever.

Nice one. My door hinge was broken on the left side and the bush needed replacing on the right side. When LeeBee did mine he then found the captive nut on the drivers side was no longer captive - big trauma. Glad yours worked out better

I did'nt have to take the door itself off, just the liner pannel. This was just a case of unscrewing a couple of fixings and pulling out the plastic rawl plug type fixings. Then had to remove the aluminium window support to get at the hinge fixings. It all appeared to go back together again.

The only tricky bit was detaching the wire connection to the door latch but as it happens i dont think i realy needed to do this.

Just follow the instructions on similar threads on hinges and liner pannel removal.

Thanks again to everyone for their comments and direction i don't think i would have wanted to start this without them.

Cheers,
