Packing the Roof for Le Mans

Is there a cunning way (i.e. other than the one I use) to pack the roof as tightly as possible to maximise what little luggage space there is?
I'm mentalling packing what we have and am getting worried we'll run out of wine space!

When we went me used soft bags that can be squeezed into any avaialable space. The tent fitted underneath the roof panals in the boot. We managed to squeeze quite a lot of bottles in by wrapping them in sleeping bags etc in the boot. Pretty much all the space was taken up, so nothing could move around. Have to admit it was a bit of a bugger when it started raining on the way back!! Also managed to get a few small boxes onto the parcel shelf.
I am assuming you are leaving the space saver at home and taking a can of tyre weld and international breakdon cover!!

I currently place rhe roof panels (in covers) diaganolly (sp) at the bottom of the right-hand side of the boot, then with a little twisting around fit them in resting on top of the fuel tank shelf. Is there any way to fit them in horizontal, Griff and Chimaera style, or are we stuck with the strange placement?
One option that occurred to me, but I have done nothing to verify it, is to get one of those chrome boot racks like on the old MGs. If it stuck to the boot lid only, it would allow access with it in place and the roof panels could be placed in a bag on the rack. The only downside would be visibility, but as you drive a TVR anyway, there shouldn't be anybody that close to matter.

I've done a little "packing-for-Le Mans-trial" yesterday. The key, IMHO, is to have lots of small bags. Even with the roof in the boot, there is actually quite a lot of space left for smaller parcels. I can see though that it could be a bummer if you do get caught in the rain. But - it ain't going to (fingerscrossedtouchwood...)

Had a play with various ways of fitting the roof in today, as I noticed that there is a lip below the back-end of the bonnet similar to that on the Chim and Griff.
Works well for the smaller, driver-side panel, which sits horizontal right at the top of the boot, but the larger panel just won't go in horizontally as it gets caught on the lugs, and however you wiggle it won't go in (leave it Podie
).
Don't know if the lip was intended for roof stowage, but I can't think what else it might be for.
Thankfully, all the luggage so far is small, so should be OK.

Nice pic, I should have known I could never have an original idea. However I would want mine to be temporary, using suckers and straps.
The annoying thing is that they will go in flat on top of the luggage, with a bit of overlapping in the middle of course, but it's the boot catch mechanism that stops the back edge from dropping in. If you could design the catch to move out of the way (hinge?) while you put the roof in. But I still prefer that boot rack option.
But as Shnozz said, "it's summer"..................so perhaps it would be better suspended between the rear roof frame and the top of the windscreen then.
