I've had the S 3 months now and its been an ongoing saga to get it to run right. New plugs, leads, distributor cap, fuel filter and fuelpump. I think the 'Kaltstart' relay is faulty too as cold starting is a tricky business, but I'm having a lot of trouble sourcing a replacement. When the car is fully warmed up, it now runs better than before, but I cant help feeling that the pick-up is not what I expected. I used to have a Mondeo V6 and that was definately quicker both on accleration and top end. The TVR just feels like its got a permanent rev-limiter! Anyideas anyone?

i don't believe the kaltstart relay comes into play in summer, its more about cold weather than cold engine.

if you check my profile you will see i have had running and coldstarting problems recently. read the thread 's1 misfire...' there is much good advice and it could be your problem is a mild version of mine!(one of them anyway)

i'm 90% sorted now after new fuel pump(didn't really help but the pump sounds happy now) and a s/h metering unit.
also check the air hose between filter and throttle body, they can get a bit crumbly, let air in and upset the metering.

good luck, the s has a better power/weight ratio than the mondeo and you sit about a foot lower, so the tiv should feel faster.you have good times to look forward to.

(sorry teach, i know a preposition is the wrong thing to end a sentence with!!)

Thanks for that Ali!The cold start injector isnt working at all, when I start up I have to wait about 3 or 4 minutes while the car idles (sort of) very lumpily, and dies if I press the gas pedal. After that it's OK. The last couple of days it has run well, but seems to lose out at the top end. I've got a man with all the diagnostic gear coming round tomorrow, so we'll see.
Although my ownership has been a bit fraught, I've still done 3000 miles in three months , which is more than the S did in the previous 4 years! I don't regret the purchase and know I'll get there in the end.
Cheers
