starting an S1..

Just brought an S1 and have been told by the various other owners of the cars I saw that it's best to let the car run for 5 mins when first started. I always thought that this was bad for engines, as they heat up too quickly without dispersing the heat. Is it right to let the engine run for a while before driving off?

I don't.

however I believe you are supposed to be subtle with the loud pedal until the engine is properly warmed up. this gets the oil up and about before putting strain on the mechanicals..
