Just before I bought my S2, the indicator stalk was changed to pass the mot, but the part fitted is incorrect. The garage said that the part fitted was a Ford Sierra stalk, but it is thinner than the original, and more importantly, does NOT have a push button for the horn!

Does anyone know exactly which Ford the proper stalk is from so I can nip down the scrap yard for a replacement part ? Or does anyone have a spare they want to sell ?

I know a lot of people are going for new Levan stalks, but I am just trying to get the car 100% for now.

Thanks.

The switch gear is actually 2 switches, left has flash/main/indicators/horn/hazards, right has lights and wipers (2 stalks).
The FINIS for left switch is 6066606 with a part number of 81AG13B302AA.

It's a Ford part, and they aint cheap!

Hmmm. Mine doesn't have hazards on the stork - it's a button on the top of the stearing column.

(Edited to say, I've just noticed you're taking about an S2. Doh!)

Hazard is on the top, but may well be attached to the stalk. Look at the back of the stalk with a mirror. The horn has a metal rod in it, whilst the wiper has a switch with wires (or is it visa versa?).

Strange bit of design...

I was quoted £60 from David Gerald, which I why I will try the scrap yard first ! Ta for the info, now I can target MkIII escorts as a first attempt.

The red hazard button is on top of the column cover, but is still part of the indicator switch assembly.

Thanks

Cheers Podie. I will take a look tomorrow (too dark now). I've never poked around a car as much as this - but I'm learning fast. Wish I had done it all 10 years earlier...

A trip to the local scrap yard yielded a indicator stalk, light stalk, and top and bottom cowling from a Y reg Sierra, all for the princely sum of £15. Now have a horn to play with.
I replaced the top cowling also, as it had been butchered and was glued to the bottom part. I had to cut down it down in length so it missed the dash board.

It was difficult to find a indicator stalk with the small square hazard button, as most old fords seem to have a larger round button, with i think is a later model. These could be used if the top cowling was also changed to suit.
