Gas Strut for the boot
Discussion
Gave up trying to get a suitable Gas strut to fit my S2, in the end fitted a simple stay and catch, the stay in 1/4" aluminium bar bent at right angles and used the original fixing point, the catch was epoxied to the inside of the boot. (no weight, no hassle)
The Bible shows a catch of the type used on "drop leaf" cupboards!
Unless you can see your boot flex under the "pressure" I doubt if it would cause damage although I would watch the mounting point on the bodywork.
