Car just passed it's MOT with flying colours. Was told it was one of the best he has driven. Chuffed.

Since getting it back I have started having trouble getting into 1st and second gears and can opnly get it into reverse with much grating. This all with the clutch fully pressed down. Does this sound like an adjustment job or new clutch cable required?
Is this easy to do?

Cheers

Thought the clutch was fully hydraulic?? If it is sounds like some parts (clevice pins) have worn and will need replacing.

Try putting it into 4th, then either 3rd and 2nd, or just 2nd then into 1st or reverse.

Not much use if you need 2nd while moving mined, but mine in just awkward in 1st and reverse for some reason.

A lot better now I've pulled the mat away from behind the pedals. I've actually got full use of the throttle and brake too..

Don't know if you have already done this, but check the fluid level in the reservoir, maybe bleed the clutch to see if this helps before relacing bits.

BEst thing to check if slave is gone is fill up reservoir and then see if you lose fluid at a rapid rate. Happened on my mini once, lost the whole system in a day. Or it could just be some wear on the pedal assembly.

If the master has gone you will probably find it's previous contents under the carpet beneath the clutch pedal.
If the level is OK and the clutch bite point seems low, have a look at the adjuster on the slave cylinder.

Master replacement is a fairly quick job (for a contortionist).
