Sound familiar?

Had problem the last couple of days so I had unplugged the TP, carry on running in 'get you home mode' with consequent increase in idle speed, but I can live with that for cold starting.
Today driving through town, caught in very slow moving traffic, late for a meeting, stopped just before the rise of a small hump back bridge. Traffic moves off and I sit there with no power trying to balance clutch, throttle to keep the bloody thing running. The engine is doing things that have no relationship to my input, eventually it spits a couple of times WhhWaang!! it screams and then I have throttle control and manage to move forward 200 yds and pull off the road. Bonnet up and unplug idle valve, re-connect it and TP, the thinking behind it is that at low speed in traffic then the TP might maintain some element of control without loss of power.
Bloody thing runs nearly perfectly and has continued to do so.
I will get a new TP and fit it, can anyone confirm that the Cerbera S6 4.0 litre pot is the one to go for and not the one used on the 4.2 or 4.5 V8 otherwise it's going to be the blue oval parts dept.

What the heck was going on with the wayward throttle, ECU? or TADTS
You help will be much appreciated guys

Bloody TVRs but it did sound good when it cleared its throat, right outside D_b_nhams

Hi Ian,
Thanks for the offer, I bought a new TP from Ford however the existing one is now working perfectly so I will wait for it to fail the next time and then replace it with the new one. All I can think is that the contacts needed cleaning and fiddling with it made good the contact, as has been previously reported.
Ray

Good to here your still around Ray! As you would have guessed I havent got a clue either....
Lets have a get together weather permitting!
Have a new job in Lincoln now.....could bring in the S on a 100% guaranteed dry day forecast!

I've found that any lumpy stuff mine goes thru is cured by resetting the ECU via a battery disconnect...but thats no use for you I know
