Can you rent a garage for the beast, it may be off set by the insurance savings (a bit any way). Seems a shame to let people stop you having fun.

I think it is covered - but for the excess and the premium hike that I will suffer next year, I doubt if it will be worth it...

any one have experience with this kind of thing?

will they stitch me up with a heinous premium next year?

not sure if Dave meant covered by insurance or as in did it have a cover over the car?

might be worth investing in a locking cover in view of these probs.

Really sorry to hear that. Out of all stereo thefts/car park knocks etc the thought of some little ct keying a car out of simple jealousy with nothing to gain bugs me like nothing else.

Tim,

So sorry to hear this - this is awful - you are having dreadful luck. But do stick with it - when they work well, they are the most rewarding cars to own. If only we could get garages to park them in !

Can you not rent a garage from the local council? Or maybe look around the neighbourhood for someone with one they don’t use?

Garages in west/south west london are rarer than a new set of alloys for your S ! Makes insurance interesting too.

yeah - you're not wrong! & without a garage your alloys are gone anyway!

I had the offer of using a neighbours drive when my 'S' was done.....
I did park it there for a couple of nights as is meant that people could not walk directly past....

Is this a possibility..??
You could offer something for this rental..??

BERGS2, I am very sorry to hear your news. Don't make any decisions yet. I know an exceptionally good professional respray guy down near Brands Hatch, at least get a quote first and then decide. If you need the details, drop me a mail.

The MGC that I get to drive has been quoted a full respray (taking off all chrome, windows out etc) for £1000 which isn't bad. Depending on the nature of the scratch it mightn't be too bad (although it sounds deep).

Investigate possible storage - even if it's a little out of the way from where you live. It's a complete nightmare when these things happen, but it would be a very great shame if it results in you getting rid if your beautiful motor.

All the best,

Mel

Not that I know where you live - but I figured it would be okay over in Kew ? Just thinking of myself here - but I'm moving south of the river in the New Year and if this sort of thing is common it's a bit worrying.

Can't imagine how you feel - I'd be heart broken if anyone broke my S.

I'm taking her up to my parents this weekend (rural bedfordshire). After the last couple of weeks I think she needs a break from the mean streets of London...

still need to plot my revenge on the s than damaged her though...

Mmmm - and a chance to have a good hard think about how to keep her safe. Given that garages are best - have you searched around your local neighbourhood for one going spare ? Of course when they come free they get snaffled pretty quick - but if you're persistent you might find one.

PS: Revenge - a dish best served cold.

Sorry to hear that Tim.
I live in rurual Lincs, and this sort of thing really is very rare, and hard to imagine how you must feel right now.
Keep yur chin up though, there's always a way if your persistent enough.
Best of luck with the repairs.

Ahhh man Tim. Sorryto hear about it!! How deep are the sratches? If they aren't too deep you could use some P2000 wet and dry and some Faraclea rubbing compound to get it out.

If you can hang out until around New Years time when I'm back in London, I can have a go at getting it ou for you. I'm sure my father won't mind. We do our own spraying at home so have equiment. Can't say I could repsray it, but I could try and use a polisher to get the scratches out.

Let me know.
