I'm pondering a re-spray and I was wondering if it is possable to get replacement side decals for the S1, as I actualy like them.

Also does anyone have a good guesstamate for the cost of a respray ?

Decals IMHO of course! Each to their own! I hate them personally, I think they look cheap and nasty and have taken them off both the S's I've owned. Any views anyone :ducks for cover:!

The decals are no longer available as i was after a black set but mannaged to get ones in dark blue (last from Harogate Horseless)so i am going to use these as a template for a local sign firm to make new copies.
The decals give the car the more period and classic style look,(just my view for what its worth)

I agree, if the car has them on already, you should definately put some back on.

I still can't decide whether or not I want them on mine. I took them off for the respray which cost £3500 (in answer to your other question) but this was a full change of colour and some body work as well (stone chips, scratches etc...) Still can't decide whether to put them back or not. I'll leave them off for the time being. They do look cool and retro but they do make the car looks very 80's which can be a bad thing too....

Thanks for the replies.

I'm planning on keeping the car the colour it is now. It is the same paintwork it left the factory in as far as I can tell from the available paperwork. The existing body paint work is not too bad and just a bonnet re-spray would do 90% the job, the other 10% is where the paint has actually worn away where the rear wheels grit blast a few inches of the underside.

If the decals are hard to obtain I think I might just go for a partial re-spay and have the existing colour matched as I'm sure after 15yrs it will have faded some. In anyone's experience is the colour matching process good ? or is it best to go for a whole re-spay and some careful masking up ?
