for some reason my oil pressure guage is not registering pressure
i am pretty certain it must be a short somewhere but is there any way to check if you have oil pressure as i don't want to risk damaging the engine ,
also anyone know a way of testing the unit ??

thanks in advance for any help

Can you measure a voltage at the sensor terminal?
If yes, disconnect wire from sensor and measure the resistance between the terminal and ground. (IIRC should be less that 500 ohm)

No voltage - check gauge and wiring
No resistance - check sensor
Volts + resistance OK - check engine

If it is the sender unit that has gone, it is about £35 from TVR as it is a specific part, or so I am told.

I think they are becomming few and far between too. I had to ring quite a few places to get hold of one about six months back, but then that could have been me being unlucky.

That was with ign on, motor not running.

If there is no resistance (open circuit) then it sounds like the pressure sensor has gone awol.
