Rubber seal missing...
Discussion
Can anyone point me in the right direction to obtain a short length of rubber seal strip for my V8S.
The bit in question pushes onto the front edge of the plastic front wheel arch liner and seals against the opposing part when closing the bonnet. With it missing a fair bit of 'crud' is finding its way into the engine bay through the gap.
It is only about 400-500mm long and may well be the sort used on other cars around boot lids or doors.

If it is the same as my S3 the piece you require is the same profile as that around the hood hoop. I have got my inner wings off to paint and replace the very same seals. I got the seal from woolies-trim.co.uk . It is item 266 on page 4 of the catalogue and is £2.41 a metre plus vat etc. If you do a search on the forum using rubbers it will give you the same info.
put [pic] in front and [/pic] at the end of the address.to get the address right click on the pic and go to properties then copy the address
so on your post it will appear abit like this

I don't have the seal on the driver's side either, and I'm sure I remember from a previous thread that this is the case for all the S's with the inner wings fitted, so I think yours might not actually be 'missing' as such.
That shouldn't obviously stop you from fitting a seal there, obviously, but I thought you might like the reassurance of knowing that it was probably never there in the first place!

Offside seal also missing on my S2.
I assumed it had fallen off, so I replaced it with 266 about 12 years ago. This hasn't caused any problems.
I later found out that many S's didn't have the offside seal.

Very interseting Richard, mine is not there either.
Why do you think they were not fitted..?
(Or maybe they all left the factory with them fitted on both sides, but the guy who did the driver's side one only had a Pritt Stick!

Possibly....Drivers side would be less succeptable to major spray and splashing during driving. Whereas the Near side would have all puddle splash and spray.
Most chassis I've seen with some corrosion have had worse near side, although spray will definately get into the off side.
IMO....Getting the other off side done would make a lot of sense....266 here we come.....
Hey, I've started something here!
I can see the logic for only putting one on the nearside, that being where the kerbside water and muck is. On the other hand, why leave it off for the sake of saving a foot or two of rubber?
There certainly seems to be a fair bit of dirt around the bulkhead behind the offside wheelarch on my car, so it would seem reasonable that replacing this should reduce it.
Well, it's only a couple of £ and it'll keep me happy, so thanks guys, 266 it is!
