The bit that goes around the rear roof hoop is 266

The seal that goes around the doors and windscreen surround has a bigger snappon. Not available from Woolies AFAIK.

On the same/similar subject....

At the top of my windows, there is a gap between the window and the rubber 'flap' from the roof panel - this obviously causes a fair amount of wind noise etc.

Is replacing the rubber seals the solution? or is there something more sinister going on?

Cheers
Richard

Could do.. depends on the seal...

Although the door may be dropping... or the window may need to be raised a bit.

I don't think the doors have dropped at all - there doesn't seem to be any evidence on the door catches or 'horrid squeaking noise' when closing the doors. Anything else that could help diagnose this?

How does 'one' "raise the window"? They seem as high up as they could get along the window 'guide' thingy!?

I threw away my seals on the top of the windows, coz firstly they look naff and kept coming unglued and secondly they don't seal that well.I replaced them with the Griff u shaped channel and moulding. They can be made adjustable by enlarging the fixing holes.A much more professional job and no leaks. Not that it sees any rain anyway, but you never know!!

A fine question.

How would you suggest finding out?
e.g. What are the correct measurements (part no?) for the seal? are these in the bible? or on some web page?

www.tvrcc-south-wales.co.uk/sparts.asp doesn't mention it (unless 'Door Seal. U0188 ' is it)?

Any pointers gratefully received - unless its an Eminem-esque pointer(!)

My windows on the V8S have a gap between the seal and the top of the window too. Mine is fine at the front of the window but for some reason the gap then starts and gets increasingly bigger and the gap it about 6-7mm at the join with the rear roof!! I have been to Offords and they say the window can be adjusted and raised a little and hopefully this will solve it, its booked in to have it done! Is the the same as yours or is your gap the same size all the way along?

I would also like to know the part number for the seals around the door frame and front screen if anybody knows??

Cheers

Mike

Yep, mine too! Window gap (only small) at rear, but not at the front - sounds to me like a TADTS!

I don't know the part number, but I bought what appears to be the right size seal from East Kent Trim Supplies at the NEC in November. Haven't got around to fitting it yet.
East Kent

It's very long - goes around both doors and the windscreen.

Mike,

How did you go about changing over to the Griff/Chimp "system"? Was it difficult? It was something we were thinking of doing when we have the roof done.

Had mine by windows adjusted by Austec last week for a tighter fit, as there was a 5mm gap.

Still lets in a little water now, but better than it was..

If you mean the Aluminium roof struts for the rear roof, its pretty easy! I took one off and then put up the hood and locked the original strut in place. I then bolted the Aluminium strut to the roll over hoop put it in the lock position and pulled it as tight as I can, made a mark, drilled the hole, bolted it in and repeated the process for the other side! I have just bought new ones for the V8S and will be fitting them shortly along with many other shiny bits I got from Santa!!!

Sorry, I don't know.
I bought it off their stand at the show.
I have never seen that type on sale before or since.

Takes only a few mins. The ali strips are pre-drilled and simply screw on with self tappers and the rubber slot into the u shaped channel. All looks very neat.Personally I added a strip of clear rigid plastic to hold the "drip" edge of the roof out more,so it makes more of a gutter. All helps in the ongoing war against moisture. My roof is totally water proof. Also putting a product like Fabsil on the mohair material not only keeps the rain out,it freshens up the colour keeps looking like new.Hope this helps.
