Been a little confused by the appearance of a small oily 'splonge' just bellow the shoulder on many of my tops. Always about the same size and location.

Eventually worked out that each time I lean into the engine bay of the Tiv my back rubs on the spring catch on the raised bonnet!

Trouble is, not only does this ruin my clothes, but it also gives the game away to the Mrs that I've been tinkering and not getting on with the DIY!

Is this little giveaway mark another TADTS for the 'S'?

Always got pi$$ed off with this feature myself, until I came up with a solution.
Cue Blue Peter theme tune...

You need 2 plastic 35mm film containers. Cut one up to use as shims inside the other and adjust and glue so that it is a snug fit around the spring. Add string through a hole in the base to aid removal.

Voila! No more "mysterons" on your t-shirt.

Edited to say don't forget to take it off before you slam the bonnet down!

Any of you thought about moving the bonnet hinge point so the bonnet opens further? I've thought about it but (true to form ) not got as far as actually doing anything about it ...
