Get your badges done at Leven...

As for the petrol cap.. it's a TVR item on the S...

You can buy the new TVR badges from TVRCC. I bought a couple about a year ago, think they were only about £12 ish each.

To prevent the new badges deteriorating like the old ones. I coated the outside, and filled the recesses of the TVR logo with clear enamel paint, obtained from B&Q. Tested it on an old one first, it takes about four coats to fill the recesses, and is hardly noticeable because it is clear. Even tested its durability my freezing, water emersion and heat, it stood up well and they still look good today. A lot cheaper than the Leven Resin Coated Badges

Have found a local Chrome plating specialist that will Re-chrome my badges (2 x TVR and 1 x V8), the petrol cap and the rings around the lights for around £75 which seems a much better deal.

Thanks for your suggestions.

IIRC the petrol cap is about £65 to buy new. I think I enquired at Christopher Neils last year. I don't know if that price is with or without VAT.

Roy.

I got (or should I say, Santa got me) two new badges for Xmas 2002 from the TVRCC @ £32 the pair.

The bonnet badge was a bit of a pain in the arse to fit, but worth the effort, and they're still looking pristine now.

Yeah the Petrol cap is £54+vat so £65 sounds about right! Which is why £75 for the lot re-chromed sounds good!

With regard to the comment earlier in this topic "A lot cheaper than the leven Resin Coated Badges". Our badges, front or rear, are stripped of all plating, polished to remove marks, re-plated gold or chrome, painted and resin coated (by the same company that are doing them for Jaguar). This is the reason why we do not put development effort into S-Type accessories!

I certainly dont think Mel was having a go at Leven just pointing out a cheap alternative!

On your remark about not putting effort into S-Type development, I think you will find its the lack of products that makes people look elsewhere for alternatives, not the other way around!!! I have bought from Leven the wheel boss screws, the roof latches and the kick plates as thats all you have for sale for the S! I would have bought any Aluminium parts from you but there arent any others!! So I spoke to a local machinist who is making the parts I want, tailored for my car, as a one off job, at a third of the cost of your Ally parts!!! Its these sort of discoveries that then start to make Leven look expensive! Which might not have happened had 'S' parts been readily available.

Mike all i'll say is look at the indicator fiasco, couldn't get a dozen or so people to commit to purchase them.

Leven would have caught a cold

So i think we shot ourselves in the foot there

Colin I agree with you 100% the stalks issue was very disappointing and I am still baffled by the lack of numbers that actually registered an interest.

But I didnt criticise Leven for not producing S series bits..........I criticised Leven for having a go at Mel for choosing a cheaper option!!!

I would say that if the bits were made and available more people would go and buy them.

IMHO

Agreed, but you can't expect Leven to put work in, if there are not enough interested parties to buy the things... added to which, people saying "I want one" is not the same as a sale..

Ah to do that they would have to take on the 'risk', which in business is the difficult bit. Chosing the right risks to accept can mean the differnece between carribean hols or the dole. Entirely the decision of the MD, after all it is his money.
Personally I prefer 'go faster' bits to 'shiny' bits, but hey thats me

I have had my TVR and V8S badges refinished by Leven and I would like to say that they are excellent, the service was great and worth the money for the quality.

I recently downloaded the LT catalogue, and it's got a good range of products, for all TVR's including the S, I was a bit disappointed that they don't do stalks, but they do just about everything else. Not owning one, I can only comment from memory and pictures I have seen.

But there is an easy way to get them to make a product, club together and guarantee a certain number of purchases of a product, if it meets there 'cut off' they will make it. Simple.

It would appear that LeeBee is much further advanced with the design and manufacture with his stalks (and other items) than us.

We see no point in more than one of us chasing a known small market and have therefore decided to leave these items to him.
