Why do I keep reading about the Mk IV Escort rear lights being fitted upside down and on the opposite side? Hasn't anybody else compared a Mk IV to an 'S' ????

Actually, it seems to depend on the car...!

When I was looking to buy an S, I viewed about 15 cars... and 2 of them had the lights on upside down (ie the left cluster was roated through 180 degrees and sat on the right side of the car).

strangely though MOST seem to be correctly orientated...

Why do I keep reading about upside down lights

Because it was a TVR tradition-
Wedge - Fuego - upside down
Griff - Cavalier - upside down
Chimaera - Fiesta - upside down and hidden?

So for consistency.
S - Escort - upside down
But mine both read ford not prof.

"hidden" yes... but they are correctly orientated... note the fact they only have one fog and reversing light...

I don't understand how they could manage to fit them upside down on a few cars, because the sloped end would require corresponding changes to the GRP body moulding, unless they were seated really badly of course, which is, I suppose, not out of the question!

Not that I'm calling you a Tony Blair of course Podie.

Agree, does seem a little odd. Probably a Ford manufacturing issue...

I'll keep a look out in the future..
