I took my S2 out for a blast this week...bashed my exhaust on anything higher than chewing gum stuck to the road!!! Has anybody modified theirs to give extra clearance?? What about side pipes like the Cobra?? Any room inside the sills, a la Fisher Fury?...My suspension is due for a rebuild...Shocks, springs,poly-bushes etc., but they ('S's) are ALL too low for anything less than a billiard table - Thoughts and ideas please!!
Cheers

due to limited under space they have to hang below the chassis ,
there are no sills on the S,
They are all alike,
suspension rebuild may give you some extra height but otherwise you will have to live with it
one more thing though is you tyres you may have 55 and not 60's

Hi Spivvy...
when I wrote sill, I meant the empty bit under the door by the outriggers...the Fury has no sill either, it's the same configuration as the Tiv's...the Fury that I built had a side exit exhaust built in...mind you, the Fury is like a 7 with an outer body, so maybe you're right about no room...i'll just have to dismantle the S and take a looksee!!

Sounds like soggy springs to me... S's are low, but with driving around you should be OK... although speed bumps are best avoided if possible...

Ahh!! My offside rear tyre needed some inflation! took the S2 out today(Sunday)for a 50-60 mile run (not sure exactly, speedo not working!)and didn't bottom out once...However, loads of (scuttle?)shake and rattles - mine must be the scrattiest S out there!! I am still having terrible trouble selecting 1st and 2nd gear, as well as a clunking reverse. Anybody had (and fixed!) this problem?? I think I will try and bleed the clutch tomorrow...

Hi Podie! It's nice to find someone who posts on the weekend and evenings...ie, out of work time!

If you're getting lots of scuttle shake, then check the tyre balancing.. then look at getting it aligned properly.

You should be running 22psi at the front, and 24 at the rear...

You may (if you're really unlucky) have a buckled wheel... but hard to tell without seeing the car myself.

Those Mikalor clamps sound like a good idea.

Which size did you get 47-51 mm or 51-55 mm ?

They can be ordered on-line at mikalor.co.uk btw.

Use 60 profile tyres and an adjustable height shock to solve this.. then you can set the car a bit higher up to avoid the ground..

Had, yes.. fixed, no... although bleeding the clutch did help (very) slightly.

Bleeding the clutch should help 1st & 2nd selection - did for me. Before selecting reverse put it in 3rd first - seems to eliminate any clunking.

Good luck!

Well it certainly drew some comments at VW. I had a quick look at it and it ain't half bad Matt, but you didn't seem to stop very long . I was hoping to see you and that sales guy from austec, but didn't get the chance. It was probably too cold for the sales guy.
