Hi,

I am in the process of lifting the body of my S1, i have found most of the bolts but have read on here that there should be 2 under the centre consol, i can't find them....any ideas or could it be the factory forgot to put them in??

Also i think mine is an early one, it's got the twin bonnet pulls, digital clock with heater controls. where should i look to find out more?

Oh another question, A friend has advised me to cut the loom where it enters the body behind nearside front wheel and put in a connector block rather than unwiring to lift the body, is this a good idea?

Cheers

Doesn't sound like a good idea, the front loom doesn't go far anyway.

I know Spivvy had it off recently cause I went and had a look.
I have no idea how to put a link on here to him ?
If you can`t find him however ,find the Northants TVRCC site he has a link on that. I am sure he will be able to give you good advice.

There is no need to cut the harness. The only wiring that needs to be moved is round the front, you just need loads of cable ties to re-fix it. I laid all the cables behind the wiper arms -m it will take longer cutting the cables and you will make an ideal weak spot for water to knacker things.
When you lift the body off remember lift the back first and take the body backwards and then the front up and vica versa putting it back.

Have fun,

Steve.

Here we go again

Considering there's only 20 S's with the twin pulls, there seems to be a large % of them on here

s1 and s2 models do not have body to chassis bolts under the cenre consoul. Do not forget to undo the handbrake

Not boring at all, honest I think its quite interesting actually. I seem to have opened a can of worms on the twin bonnet pulls thing though as we have mid 1997 cars with them here and mid 1998 cars with them here too.. and considering as there's only supposed to be the 1st 20 cars with them (and they made 80'odd in 1987) it suggests something is awry somewhere.

Cheers
Matt.
