Just stumbled over this S2 review:

www.carsurvey.org/review_36271.html

though the 0-60 time looks possible but 150mph with 'more urge still'??? must have been down a seriously steep hill..

surely this level of performance is outside the realms of a humble S2?

any opinions?

He wishes

0-60 in 6.5 may be possible for the Podmobile et al, but not for the standard car, I would have thought nearer to 7.5 in the real world.

The car should hit 150+ at the redline in 5th, but it is unlikely any standard S would get nearer than 130+.

2 points,

1. I wouldn't go back to Austec anymore, except for new bonnet fixings.

2. I thought you said your seats were OK.

1) No the bonnet itself moves. The lack of a hump means it flexes at high speed!!!!

2) Seats are fine... I was scared...

Done 124 mph in mine

(although I was clinging on for dear life and far too busy screaming to gorp at the speedometer, which of course, could be miles out anyway - felt fast and scary though.)

I have seen just short of 145mph on the clock

on the road angel though it was 127. The speedo at lower speeds was only reading about 2mph over the accurate speed. But at 110+ it was vastly out.

Talking of speed, does anyone else find, while accelerating to speeds the S feel fine and stable, its when I start to ease off or break that it goes a bit bouncy and scares the passengers (and sometimes me)?

ie:
1-70mph nice and stable
70-90 noisy
90-100 bit 'bouncy'
100 plus - stabilises
100 down to 80 - 'bouncy'
80 down - back to normal

Did that make any sense?

(all these speeds are purely hypothetical)
