Podie . . . don't even think about it 
I took the V8S to work today, nice weather, roof off, blah blah blah. Anyways returning home tonight around 10.30 (roof still off 
), I'd just left the motorway and was accelerating away from the roundabout, just off the slip road, when "ping" the throttle pedal disappeared from under my foot and dropped to the floor 
- luckily nothing behind or on front so I eventually coasted to a stand still. First thought - throttle cable! It was pitch black and I couldn't see a bl**dy thing. After popping the bonnet I pulled on the cable from the throttle mechanism end and it came towards me, I kept pulling and it kept coming! Eventually I had the whole cable in my hand - it appeared to have sheared at the pedal end. Luckily it was long enough to trail up and around the windscreen pillar into the car. So I drove home with a makeshift hand throttle - not easy but I got home eventually. Luckily it was only about 5 miles and not too many gear changes were required. I think I'll order two cables and keep one as a spare. The sheared end looks pretty frayed so I'll take a look and see if it was rubbing where it shouldn't have been - maybe around the shroud! Lets hope I can fix this in time for the next Brighton burble. This episode serves as a reminder to carry a bit of string in the car too - I didn't need it as the cable snapped in such a way that there was a good length to play with!

You can always rely on an S throttle cable to break one day..
Mine went right at the pedal end too.. I think its to do with the fact that the plastic locator that slots into the top of the pedal sits at a slight angle to the cable that runs from it, accordingly this point just gets bent back and forth slightly every time you push the pedal down which eventually leads to the breakage.

Think thats for the V6 only Roy.
I bought a spare for my V8S and was amazed at the cost. Something like £50 +VAT
TVR special I think. Have heard that others may fit, but are likely to be too long.

A bit more than a £15 Ford bit then.
My throttle cable went halfway through an overtake on a country lane - also at the pedal end. Not a good time when something rounded a bend ahead at ***mph and I was on the outside with no throttle
Kept a spare in teh boot since then - but that was a £12 ford jobby. Not sure if the V8S uses the same cable as the Chimaera but that is £50 worth - spending £100 on 2 cables
Luckily mine hasn't gone yet but I did change it soon after I bought the car as a precaution. I know that in the Bible it does give several ways of modifying you cable so as to make it fray less. The only troble I had with mine was that someone who owned the car before me had used some pliars to crimp up the part that holds the cable in the pedal. Almost impossible to get out! Word of warning though. Not sure if this was in the S or the Taimar but on one of them it is possible for the cable outer to rest on the exhaust manifold. This obviously proves expensive as it almost immediately wrecks te cable. I did this myself

never figured out if any difference on throttle cables between different models
well the cable will be the same for the 2.9 models, would take a guess it should be the same for teh 2.8 too - just not the V8S
Managed to replace the throttle cable on the V8S today. Took just over an hour. The worst bit was trying to locate the new cable itself into the top of the accelerator pedal as the slot at the top appeared to have been crimped a little. This would've made a roadside replacement a nightmare. OK once I'd opened it out a little. Once you get up under the dash you can see why the cable will wear over time as it doesn't align properly with the exit point through the bulkhead. I guess I'll wait for the cable to stretch a little and re-adjust it again, the throttle action seems lighter too. Spare cable in the boot now!
