Loud horn like noise from Brakes - like a bus make
Discussion
Most likely a stupid question as I haven't checked my breaks yet! Will need check them on Sunday!
Anyway, I assume my brakes are worn out hence the noise! When I break very softly (as in traffic) I get a loud horn like noise, not every time but fairly often. Had the car serviced and they didn't note anything wrong with the brakes though - guess they didn't check!!

When the pads wear down to the metal, I think they make a different 'expensive' noise! If you get the old gal regularly serviced, I'm sure you would have been told if the pads were getting low.
Sounds like you need a little Coppaslip grease on the back of the pads (
remember, not on the front
) or a quick visit to the garage if you're not into gettin' filthy with her

Some type of pads need shims that go between the piston and pads to prevent that horrible squealing when you brake lightly. If the pads/discs are ok see if there are anti-squeal shims and if they havent bonded to the pads.
All with obligatory smear of copperslip. (and yes smearing the front face of the pads will also remove any trace of squeal too.....)
