Would one of these fit an S2? If so, it could be an interesting option or an alternative to turbocharging. Any thoughts?

Yes, but there is lots of reworking needing to get it to fit. Apparently after the hassle you may as well get a V8S.

Exactly how much modding does the Chassis need?

Quite a bit. The V8S chassis is a lot stiffer and more rigid. Extensive vracing in the engine bay and transmission tunnel including IIRC slightly heavier duty tubing.

The main problem with any engine power increase beyond about 10% is that it will quickly show up the weak points in the rest of the car and these then need to be addressed and the whole cost quickly spirals out of control. Insurance companies do not like serious engine mods without brake/suspension and other upgrades to prevent the car from becoming a "deathtrap".

Getting a V8S will be cheaper and easier but if you enjoy tweeking and have the budget, then there is nothing that time and money can overcome.

Oh well, looks like it will have to be a V8 then. I reckon I'll probably switch the cam if I get a chance. I drive a very cammy mini so a little uneveness on the Tiv can be forgiven.
