New to TVR's - so info requested on models

I'm new to TVR's and I am looking to import one to Australia, originally from the North West of England also!!!

Can anyone give me a run down on specs and models in the S range - currently don't know a S1 from a S3c!!!

As I am also into Land Rovers - particularly like the V8S models - when were these introduced?

I recently bought an S3. Damn great it is too!!

Try my rescent thread 'Potential new owner..'

Don't worry about highish mileage but do make sure it's been looked after. CHASSIS,CHASSIS,CHASSIS.

Great country for TVR's - but I have to admit to being frustrated by the speed limits when I was there on holiday at Christmas - makes me feel almost thankful for the UK's coverage of speed traps (never thought I'd say that....)

While I was in Oz there were huge gantrys warning of double demerit licence points over the holiday period with loads of police cars and choppers in evidence - record was 6 traffic cars and 2 police utes in just under 200 miles...... North of Sydney....

Good luck with the TVR hunt...

There is no club as such. This is our first attempt to get some TVR owners together here, hopefully in order to make something more regular.

Some of us are members of the TVR Car Club and we would like this to be a club related event. Unfortunately, some owners here can't justify the membership cost when all they really get out of it here is Sprint. Maybe we can change that (personally I think Sprint alone is worth it).

We would have liked to have more cars but unfortunately some of them have just been sold, are off the road or could not make it.

There will also be another meet around mid May, hopefully with a few people from Victoria and a visit by the WA TVRCC RO who inspired all of this.

I'm in Sydney and drive a Cerbera but i'm a fan of all models.

Don't get me started! Speed is taken way too seriously here, probably a combination of revenue raising and the fact that so many aussies kill themselves on the roads during holidays. They actually keep a state by state toll each holiday.

You didn't mention:

The poor quality of roads. There are very few roads that you could say are approaching being smooth, even the new "motorways" are uneven. I'm actually considering softening up my suspension!

Very bad traffic congestion with an unbelievable number of traffic lights.

The low standard of driving ability and arrogant car culture.


The stupid "school zones" that you have to slow done to 40 KPH at certain times of the day with speed cameras on them. Fine, but they are not marked properly and you have to look at your watch to know when to slow down.

But, there are lots of places to drive and things aren't so bad outside of the city, except for the bumpy roads - they're everywhere

I saw the blue Griff flying through Galston later that arvo - looked bloody nice!!!

Choose your TVR carefully - if the roads are that bad, the S experience is going to be a spine bashing one - you feel every lump and bump, and will grind out the exhausts on anything that sticks up higher than a blade of grass!
Aussie cars may be set up differently to UK cars, but the first job will probably be to fix a protective plate to the pipes in front of the mid box to act as a slider.

I think my springs are more tired than some, but all Ss are v. low! (bl00dy good fun all the same)
