quite high miles but if you could secure it for around £5k it looks a tidy one.

If you could secure it for nearer 6k I reckon its probably still worth it..
think I would rather find an MOT failure one for £3k mark to use as a base to be honest.
Sure.. all depends on what you want from it and how skilled you are with spanners though... apparently its in A1 condition inside and out, just a high miler ..if its as good as it sounds, an immaculate S3 for 6k isn't that bad. Cheers,
Matt.

i agree. but the plan is to rip out the interior, engine and a few other bits so a car with A1 parts isnt really a good choice - even if you could reclaim some of the additional costs in selling off the parts.
besides, my S3 was in great condition and I sold that for around £5500 IIRC.

Mmmm, I take your point ..for that sort of sport Sirpauls S2 would have been ideal.. not sure what he got for that in the end, but he was asking 2.5k for it. My only concern with an MOT failure would be that its bound to be Chassis Rot thats killed it, and thats a PITA to fix.
Cheers,
Matt

yep, PITA but a good opportunity to strengthen it at the same time so it could handle big power.

Extra 10 bhp for the SS exhaust??
yeah, I thought the same. Little bit optimistic on that front. Nice looking car though
That is an S3C and the advertiser probably meant that the cats have been removed thus giving an extra 10 bhp. Interestingly enough my car has the next registration Prefix No.

sounds like fun... I've already got my two turbo's, intercooler, and some other bits and bobs assembled, and someone to sort out the fuelling professionally.. its going to be a long summer of fabricating pipework I can tell you.. ![]()
fantastic. let us all know how you get on. We reckoned on 450 bhp allowing for approx 100bhp nos. be great tos ee what you achieve on the rollers.

I'm not going all out for loads of performance as I don't want to bugger up the engine (and I fear for the Ford transmission
)... I just want a decent bag of torque (hence twin turbo's) and something over 200 bhp... I'm starting a bit lower down too remember as I've got the 2.8, I'll be lucky if its pushing out 140 bhp at the moment.M@H said:

Perhaps as Phil says it may be a good starting point, I was talking to Doug at DG - went to kick the tyres on the V8 Tuscan they have in - anyway he was talking about an S that they were getting a new chassis from Blackpool. (Strange, Jerry bought the M jigs, you thought they do S ones now, but I digress!) If you are going to put super duper power in it, prehaps a new chassis is the way to go, then IF you hit something solid, you know your chassis won't disintegrate in to a pile of rust. So you buy a MOT fail for it's nice body shell and messy bits, bolt it to a new chassis, complete with new blueprinted engine, and off we go. TVRCC (nee Tasmin) Challenge?
Edit: Just been watching the Monster Garage thing on C4. An ex moved near the Leighton Buzzard Hells Angles, I remember them putting a Jet engine in a Trike in place of the usual VW Beetle job.
What a waste of a V8 - use that to power the car!!! >> Edited by tvrgaas on Friday 23 April 21:03
