Bits 'n' pieces
Discussion
While I have my V8S stripped to the bone I was thinking of doing all the little jobs to tidy the car up.
I have a few questions about parts
1. Are the rocker cover gaskets the same as rover v8 ones.
2. Is the fuel filter a TVR special, or can I source that from somewhere too.
3. The air filter appears to be a pipercross style, can you buy a reconditioning pack like you can for K&N.
4. Where can I get a decent set of tyres without paying the earth.
5. Is the oil filter a standard rover item and can it be changed without repacking with grease to prevent air locks (this was mentioned as a problem).
6. Some of my air duct tubing has burnt through, does anyone know where I can get a replacement.
Sorry about the quantity of questions, but I am sure someone should be able to answer them easily.
Thanks,
Z.

For tyres try either of the following:
Micheldever Tyres and Auto Services, www.micheldever.co.uk, Tel - 01962 774437,
Location - between Basingstoke & Winchester, Hampshire
Allegedly Europes busiest & biggest tyre centre and will still supply Re721's if you want 'em
Or
Protyre, Web - www.protyre.co.uk
Location - various across South England.
Cobbled from www.sseries.com,
though I did supply the info originally
Bit of a
, but about £80 a corner.

Z,
1. Yep. Rocker cover gaskets - Land Rover Part#LVC100260 £11 each approx plus VAT. These are the new rubber ones (replacing the original cork type).
2. Not sure - TVR part# is TL0068
3. ??
4. Micheldever - I recommend them too. They can still get the OE RE71's too.
5. Halfrauds part#HOF249. Just fill the filter up with clean oil to the brim, smear a little oil around the seal, whip off the old one and replace it sharpish with the new. I've only ever repacked the actual oil pump itself with vaselene on a full strip down - never had any problems. When you fire her up check for oil pressure.
6. 2" air ducting - can be sourced elsewhere I beleive although TVR part #S29E 10037.
Hope this helps.
