I know that a fair few of you have had this done recently - I have tried a couple of places but they all seem in the £250-£350 range?

Call me a pikey but this seems a bit steep - I guess a fair amount is getting the hood section off - has anyone done this themselves?

Have you checked your insurance cover...? = £50 xs

Alternatively, RichardR had his done IIRC drop him a line..

Try giving Tom Horsborough a call, mine was replaced under Insurance job. He got mine done, don't know where or how much..

David Batty always seems to know where to get stuff done...

For £250 you can get a whole new rear hood from Autohoods???? A&R Pound in Baldock, charge around £90-£100 for a new rear screen.

Podie - not delved into your extensive profile before - very impressive

You need a fine tooth comb to find it though (languishing down the bottom amidst the wheel refurb...) - was the £80 labour for both the wheels & the screen? The quote I got from DB was £200 + VAT? seems like a fair whack of inflation!

I copy every bill into the history, so whatever was written on the invoice has been cc'd in there.

£200 + VAT does seem a bit OTT though... although I seem to recall he removes the hood from the body. My car has been out in some SERIOUS downpours and doesn't leak though, so he must have done a good job..

I'd keep hunting around for some quotes...

I got mine done by Trimmania in Reading (0118 975 8700), and it cost £290 inc. VAT, but it was covered by my windscreen policy so it only cost the £60 excess, and didn't affect my NCD.

They did appear to do a very good job (they have to remove the rear hood section in order to be able to machine stitch the new window in), but I'm still glad I wasn't footing the whole bill myself.

If yours isn't covered by your windscreen policy, then Mike Goodall told me about a guy called Phil Seal in Newbury (01635 30094) who retrimmed a lot of the interior of his S1. When I spoke to Phil, he quoted me £100 for a new window, so it might be worth trying him.
