Just been in touch with Ford as I want to do my tappets soon, they have told me that there is no rocker cover gaskests listed for the 2.9 Cologne engine.

Is this true?

Erm, not sure that can be right - mine were replaced by Austec in March as they were leaking. They could have used non-Ford parts, but I think that's unlikely....

Ford ones were still on sale fairly recently, so unless they have just been discontinued, it sounds like you were talking to a muppet.

There are various other "copies" that are the same shape - but genuine Ford ones are best because they have ickle metal shims built in that means you can't tighten them to much and squash them.

Ask for ones for a 1989 Ford Sierra 4x4. I found that the covers were not flat on the sealing edge, due to constant re-tightening to try and stop the leaks. Check on a flat surface (like a piece of glass) and gently 'adjust' with a rubber mallet! Worked for me - I now have a 2.9 with no oil leaks for over 5 years(and yes, there is oil in it).

Mine were replaced today, so if you continue to have no joy, let me know and I'll ask the guy who did my car where he got them from.

I've always used pattern parts with no problem. The make I've used is FAI part no. RC435S.
