AFAIK all the S3Cs had them fitted, and I'd imagine that your S4 does too.

Alas, the standard S3s make do without.

Based on my reverse gear, if it's more of a bugger to get reverse with an LSD fitted, I can only imagine that you have to get out of your car and push it backwards! (Do you know about the trick of putting it into second and then into reverse - seems to help with mine)

The LSD should ensure that you always get a better distribution of power between both rear wheels i.e. the amount that one wheel can slip in relation to the other is limited! This should help with better getaways and should also improve traction when 'pressing on'!

Someone will probably be along in a minute to tell me I'm talking bollocks and explain it all properly...

Jack up the rear of the car, one side only and try to spin the wheel (handbrake off of course!!)

If the wheel won't turn or takes a great deal of effort to move just a little (feels like the brakes are binding) you have a slipper!

LSD was fitted to the S3c as standard... part of the justification for the extra £1500 on the list over the S3... IIRC
