I saw these today and wondered...

Fitted to an Audi A3. A bit more compact than most modern mirrors and the mounting boss looks just about the right size to cover the hole in a V8S or S3 (or even Chim) door. Has anyone tried them?

I'll make a template of the curve of my door and pop back when the owner is not arround laugh

A nice mod and quite easy on the S1 & S2 doors. The later cars with the Citroen CX mirrors have a circular hole in the door skin to locate the mounting boss. The ideal replacement mirror needs to cover this hole and match the curve of the door without the need for filling and painting. A friend of mine has just bought an A3 so I'll pop round to see him and make template of how his door profile matches mine. Then we'll know how practical the A3 mirrors are.

They do look good, don't they? Has anyone tried putting them on an 'S'?

A copy of the picture would be nice. Linking to a private club page excludes those who haven't paid the £55 membership fee.

I removed the recess on Samy and fitted some Vittoria items - can't find a pic. However, had the same passenger side issue that magpies has. Have an alternative to fit as part of the repairs with integrated indicator.

I did find this though on the Fibreon website -

http://www.damagedtvrs.co.uk/products/part/107

Would allow Corrado mirrors to be fitted as per latter TVRs. Couldn't find the Sagaris spacer bases to go with them though which I would want. I think the Corrado items would suit the S.

Mx5 are great and super light but I am warming to the fiesta with built in indicators.. Then remove the std repeaters. Like Mick and Alan iirc. What's a couple of kg between friends and like the idea of electric move, heat, and fold smile spent too much money this year though so super light mx5 will more than do for now.

In the original post on the TVRCC Form the contributor said about the Mk1 TT mirrors, ".. and the wiring appears the same as the original mirrors". Which is handy. I wonder if the wiring on the A3 mirrors is similar to the 'S'?

I suspect that all the VAG parts would be wired similarly. Motor control. Heater pad. Folding motors control.

The Corrado ones have two 'looms'. One for the heated pads. One for the mirror motors.

One thing VAGs do is adjust the passenger side mirror when the driver's is adjusted. However, he simple wiring required for the TVR would remove this function.

Too modern for me. I'm trying to find something from the period for mine as there's something about having modern bits on old cars that looks a bit odd to my eyes.

although I do like the TT and A3 mirrors, the Fiesta ones can be inexpensive - I paid £25 for the pair of mk8 mirrors.

IMHO the only mirrors that look good on the car are the later Citroen type mirrors, though maybe I should say the Aston/Jag mirrors. wink The others look wrong proportionally.

Just ordered a pair of these for the Taimar and have the same but in satin black on the S, no frills, manual adjust but do give a decent rear view.
