I understand that this has been covered many times but what I'm interested in knowing is what have you used, when did you use it and most importantly, how has it lasted?

I plan to get the wire brushes, scrapers and sanding discs out tomorrow so really need to get something on order paint wise.

Also, how much do I need, planning to redo everything I can get at with the body lifted as per my other thread.

I don't mind paying more for something that's going to last.

I'll be applying with a brush and would prefer something that doesn't look quite so brushed on if that's possible?

Thanks
Lawrie

POR15 is the stuff to use if you want a sort of pretty OE-type finish, but it's quite fussy how it goes on. It's also UV-sensitive, so in areas like the wheel arches and section of the front and rear chassis, you might choose to apply a topcoat.

Nothing "fancy" for me, Red Oxide onto the bare metal then a couple of coats of Rustoleum.

2.5 litre tin did all accessible chassis, wishbones, trailing arms, tank support. radiator surround etc. etc. with plenty to spare

Hi,
I used Rustbusters Epoxy-Mastic chassis paint as a base coat. Then two coats of RustOleum RAL 3000.
I find the RustOleum self heals to a point, and prevents small road chips from causing rust.

Thanks all, just a body lift so shot blasting is out of the question.

When were these done and what's the finish like now?

Thanks
Lawrie
