Has anyone fitted the black powerflex bushes?

I will be fitting to a track/sprint car.

How bad is the increased vibration or is not really noticeable?

Your comments please!

Cheers

Hi Bill,

Which bushes are you fitting? Front suspension bushes?

What do you mean by vibration?

If just front suspension I doubt you would feel any extra vibration as such, might be a little harsher on the road but I doubt it would be particularly uncomfortable, shock and spring changes would be the ones to watch out for.

I did fit replacement aluminium (rather than rubber) engine mounts on my previous 'toy' and that did cause some vibration smash

Hello fellow S'er's

I have a very good friend, who works for a company with a lot of experience in making PU elastomers. We were talking about car stuff a few days ago and he told me that in general, PU bushes can be made (at a fraction of the Pow**rf**x cost !!) with different qualities of PU with a Shore hardness from 60-98 ShA.

I would like to ask him to make some bushes for my car, but I do not have the exact dimensions of the bushes.

Does anyone out there have any technical drawings - with dimensions - of the TVR-S bushes ??

Who knows - maybe a spare "set or two" could be available afterwards, for testing purposes !!

Tim

I have a couple spare somewhere, it's a bit early, can't recall if top and bottom wishbones use same size?

The part numbers are different, so presumably, so are the dimensions???

I replaced all my front suspension & ARB bushes with Supaflex poly items,
at the same time as fitting Gaz springs & dampers, and ( subjectively ) there was no really noticeable increase in vibration, just a huge improvement in ride & handling.

Same here, only with Powerflex. Don't think much of the rear trailing arm versions though. They're a bad fit, although they seem to work ok. No knocks or rattles at all, but only extended running will reveal whether I'm being unfair on them or not.

If you're having new ones made up, you should measure new ones to get the best fit. Each bit of rubber you replace improves your feel on the track...suspension, steering, tires ... if it's a track only car, skip the PU and go with spherical bushings and low profile tires.
