Stainless steel brake pipes...help with ID
Discussion
Hi,
I'm replacing the original brake pipes on the front of my S2 with some nice shiny stainless steel ones. I've looked on the websites of a couple of the big suppliers and they seem very expensive. Please can someone help with the following questions...
1) I know the threads on the pipes are metric, male, with M10 x 1.0 thread, however the part that is screwed into the calliper is different to the connector that connects to the metal brake pipe (see pic below - calliper connector on the right). What is the name for this kind of connector? - I need to know so I can use it when ordering.
2) I seem to remember someone mentioning on here a place which is good value for supplying the pipes. Who is this supplier?
3) I also remember someone on here replacing the two flexible pipes per side which I have with a single flexible pipe. If anyone has done this I'd be interested to know how it has worked out in the long term, what size grommet was used to get through the hole in the upright and the length of pipe used? I suspect doing this was a great cost saving with no decrease in performance.
Thanks,
Ralph

Try www.stevsonmotors.co.uk
If you search on here for "s series flexi brake pipes, there's a wealth of info.
Or have a look at FAQ's.

If you search back on Phillpot's threads via his profile then he swapped to single piece pipes at the front. And I know that he used Stevsons as Glen suggests as he recommended them to me for my S2.
Of course it's just possible that Stevsons know about the single pipe. Would be worthwhile giving them a call.

When I replaced the flexi pipes on my S2, I took the old rubber ones off and got Merlin Motorsport at Castle Combe to make up braided stainless replacements using the old ones as templates.
They did a really good job, can't remember how much it was but can find out. The advantage of doing this was that there was no worry about having the wrong connectors!
Cheers
