Tricky one......

I believe "some" S1's were registered as Tasmins (and possibly other things) and then of course there are the change-over cars referred to as S 1.5's

... lets just say not many smile

Every attempt to make sense of records has been frustrated so far.

The DVLA records appear to show 270 cars registered as TVR 280S in 2001, we know there were other S1's recorded under different identities.

Strangely this had dropped to only 88 in 2014, despite the fact that vehicles off the road would still have been recorded on SORN.

It then rose again to 126 in 2014! While that might well have been effected by the new continuous registration arrangements I would find the changes from 2001 to 2014 very difficult to understand.

If I had to stick my neck out and make a guestimate I would think maybe c450 were made of which about 50 are on the road now (and something like 15 represented on PH?). Anybody know any better?

TVR were registering S2's as 280S well into 1990. The DVLA data is not useful even as a very rough guide.

I don't think even TVR's own build records are reliable!

My early S1 was registered as a Tasmin by them, registered in a block of other TVR Tasmins..... Or were they? We may never know! I got a copy of the original registration document from DVLA back in 2011.

Also some of the early V8S cars were registered as 280S, or just plain TVR.

So it's anyone's guess how many are left. All I know is, I'm glad I've got one!*driving

I just had a count of S1's on the Owners List, and it totals 50, not including yours Tony.
I know that some of them have been sold on, or gone to that car park in the sky, so the list is not truly representative. I wish people would update their entries annually so we could get a better idea.

Did you buy yours from one of those owners on the list? If so, just input your details in place of the previous owner. If not, you'll have to start a new line. Be careful you don't upset the formatting. ( I can't do it, I cannot input the vertical bars that the format requires from my phone. )

Failing that, someone on here can help if they get your details. Just shout if you need assistance.

Plenty of help & advice on here, we're a friendly bunch. smile

My 1990 TVR S2 (2.9 engine) is also registered as a 280S!

Hi Tony,
I have just tried to email you via your profile but you have not permitted it. If you send me the details you want on the Ownner's List, I'll do my best to add them for you.
Just click on my name to bring up my profile page, then click on 'Email me' . Simples!

Which area are you located?

Sorry Glen, my mistake on this one, I was miles out.

The list of owners at the top of this forum suggests 72 S1 and S1.5 (the DVLA will certainly not have made that subtle distinction!). All were added to the list during or after 2009, so there shouldnt be that much 'dead wood'?. I can see a few which appear to have changed hands but I do not think there are that many duplications.

Presumably we could ask PH members who have sold their cars to remove them from the list? Not sure that many would see that request though.

If there are indeed the better part of 70 S1 (+1.5) in existence owned by PH members, plus presumably quite a few others owned by people who are not on PH, I confess I am surprised at how few I have seen at events.
