Yep, fits no problem.

You'll need pair of discs's, calipers and pads... bolt straight on,easy as that!

Easy peasy thumbup Sierra XR4i (someone confirm please, I can't find my old post on this) front calipers and discs. Straight swap and just a couple of hours work.

Ask on the Chimaera Forum, may well find someone selling all you need after up-rating their car to something bigger?

I believe you also need the hub to caliper brackets - that can be trickier than the caliper to get hold of.

Good advice. Carriers, discs, callipers and pads. Original hoses shouĺd fit.

That said, decent pads, fluid change and a service the rear drums would transform the brakes.

If you want to improve braking then a 279mm front upgrade (fiesta ST 2.0 callipers and carriers fit) and a rear disc conversion is the way to go.

OK guys, you have experience I do not have. If an owner wanted to upgrade their brakes (on a V6) what would you see as the logical progression upwards from standard brakes?

Yes, to clarify, you need the caliper complete with carrier. They should come complete from anyone selling because they've upgraded to whatever monster brakes....

For road use I'd suggest the above simple "bolt on" upgrade to 260mm discs with some decent pads and stick with drums at the rear (although discs go look better wink )

They should screw straight in, unless they have been changed for something odd in the past.

Good advice. You might as well sort the rear end out at the same time as it be a lot easier than doing it later.

Personally, I'd clamp off the hoses rather than let the brake system drain down under gravity. Then force-bleed new fluid through the whole system once it is all back together. This just reduces the chances of getting air into the system.

Six months ago there was nearly always a set of these calipers on eBay anytime you looked, but now there are none. The kit-car boys are snapping up old Sierra brake parts for their builds.

Not cheap but are these the conversion recommended long ago in the Steve Heath 'bible':

If so has anybody got experience of using them, and are these discs otherwise standard 260mm Ford Sierra 4x4 and therefore fairly easy to source replacement discs?

If its just for road use then refurb the existing. Decent fluid, pads perhaps swapping the flexi hoses for braided items. There are 8 flexi hoses that can be swapped out for 4 (longer) braided items. More than capable.

I have the 260mm discs and in normal road use it is easy enough to out brake the tyres, so there's not much point in spending a shed load of money on any complicated set-up unless you are going to be taking it on a track regularly. (IMHO of course biggrin)

Take your point Joe, absolutely no point in having brakes which exceed the grip available under normal road conditions. Have I seen a reference somewhere to somebody doing 260mm kit or am I dreaming it?

Not so much a kit, the 260mm is basic / all Ford set up.

The master cylinder and servo should be checked too. I have vague recollection that the pedal also has a number of holes for the clevis pin to be fitted too. This would allow the brake feel to be adjusted.

Why? scratchchin Tyre size/profile? Rolling diameter/clearance to wheel arch? A lot to think about here and for what benefit?
