Fly wheel dowels
Discussion
Hi All,
I pulled my flywheel to have it refaced and I noticed that I only have 2 dowels in it. It looks to me like it may have a hole for a 3rd so its either fallen out or there were only ever two to start with.
Anyone know whether I need to get a 3rd one put in or shall I just bung the flywheel back in the car. Its not a large weight but I suppose even the smallest imbalance can have an effect at 6000 rpm..!!

Agreed, three! If you cannot get them from Ford then Burton Power are the top Ford engine tuners and have loads of stuff. Unless you have special big end bolts I would be wary of going to 6000rpm, that is right on the limit for the standard big end bolts. 6000rpm would also just exceed the capacity of the valve springs and valve bounce could well occur. Again Burton do the special big end bolts and valve springs and then the engine should be safe to 6500rpm.
