Were these the ones built for the Italian market for tax reasons?

Yes that's correct, it was for the Italian 2.0 litre tax bracket.
But you're a bit late boys, we had a good thread on this topic about a fortnight ago

And see how the price has been dropping since then. I think it started at around £34k - now lost £7k at latest relisting.....

Given it's basically a Rover V8, how easy would it be to fit different pistons and conrods for a 4.0 litre supercharged S?
