tvr s2 mystery 9 pin wiring connector / plug
Discussion
hi again, been tidying up the under glove box part of the loom today and worked out what most relay looking items and plugs are by checking wire colours with wiring diagrams from this site, but this one has really confused me. it's a 9 pin connector/plug. 6 of the wires have been cut away (though the colours can still be seen) and the remaining 3 wires don't go to a plug that isn't plugged to anything, so i am wondering what it was meant for and seeing as it isn't connected to anything (and everything i can think of on the car is working) can i just cut this plug off and tape over the ends of the 3 remaining wires to tidy things up? can't work out from any diagram what it could have / should have been, help!
remaining wire colours are green, brown/green, brown/white.
cut wires were black/green, brown/white, brown/green, yellow/brown, black/red(or pink), black.
thanks

hi again phillpot, yes and no, 3 remaining wires do disappear back into part of the loom, there seem to be 2 main branches or snakes of loom in my footwell, one goes to the main fuse block and the other goes to the two fuel relays (pump and injection relays)and also has what i believe to be the diagnostic plug and octane adjust plug (according to wire colours and wiring diagrams) and also has the offshoot that goes to the ecu. the taping down there by this mystery plug does not seem to me to be original. now that you say you don't recognise it i am wondering if it could have been something to do with the old alarm immobiliser that i ripped out all those years ago when i first got the car? i suppose i could unpick the taping and trace the wires back but i was hoping you would identify it in a flash ;-)

That would be my uneducated guess.

That might be the only option.
What stops working if you leave the connection unplugged?
That would be my uneducated guess.

hi v8s4me, nothing stops working as it is not plugged to anything, i thought it may have been another diagnostic plug, but since phillpot said he didn't recognise it i wondered if i may have unplugged some part of the old alarm system from it years ago and have now forgotton. as long as it is not of any use i will trace it back and cut out as much as i can, just trying to tidy the loom up but didn't want to remove this with out knowing what it was meant to be for even though it no longer plugs to anything.
