Petrol tank connection

I've always thought the little connection (circled red) was the excess return but thinking about it there isn't a return, is there, on the 2.9?

Is it a vent/breather to stop the "vacuuming" ?




The hours I've spent crawling around under my car and can't picture at all where the pipe goes to

If you put a V8 in you may need a injector fuel return.

It is on a 2.8

On my 2.9 S2, this "little connection" connects via a long hose to the output of the fuel pressure regulator. No. 5 in diagram, below.
I would have thought that this was the fuel return, direct to the fuel tank.

Of course it does, thank you ... Serious "senior moment"


For some reason (senility?) I'd got it in my head the only connection on the regulator was the little vacuum pipe!
