Maybe another grandmothers eggs post but here's a tip I picked up off the Wedge Forum. Run a large bore pipe from the top of the engine, down the back of the bell-housing and insert it into the filler hole. Then let gravity to the work...

This method avoids filling your armpit with oil via your sleeve.

I now have a very large syringe surplus to requirements. Any takers? Glen? laugh

Ah, takes all the fun out of it! Good tip though.

I think it is a very bad idea offering Glen a large syringe....it can only lead to him getting up to more mischief!!

Same works on the V6 cars but I lift the centre console and bring the tube out through the gear lever hole. wink

Hi Joe,

Haven't you just turned a one man job into a two man job? Or do you simply pour the oil in at the top until there's a puddle of oil on the floor, then wait for it to stop dripping?

I always found the big syringe easy and mess-free from below (but I do have jumbo ramps that raise the car two feet AND keep it level...)

I commend your choice of oil though. Difflock - lovely stuff! Gave me 'knife through butter' gear changes in mine, AND I could use second gear cold without crunching!

Have fun!
Graham

That's what I have. But when you can only get the car about 18" off the ground it's a pain in the arse (and everywhere else) to have to keep sliding under with a full syringe, and then back out for a refill, then back again etc etc...

It's this stuff, not ATF. Similar colour though.

No Graham, you measure out the correct quantity, and pour most of that down the tube. Then add a blob more till it drips and and job done laugh

It's specially 'designed' for the Rover LT77 box. I'm not sure how well it would suit your Ford box (but it has to be better than ATF surely?!)

Cheers, just ended up googling some old pH posts about gearbox oil.. 'Comma 75W-90 GL-4 Semi-Synthetic' seems to pop up often, will check out how many litres I need
