Mirror joystick repair / replacement

I've been out of the S series community for a few years.

Has there been any update on either availability or replacement for the electric toggle joystick that controls the mirrors. Mine goes up and left, but not down and right.

Has anyone ever successfully fixed theirs?

As it's a four way switch and not a circuit board (as far as I can remember), can it really be so difficult to take it apart and work out what isn't working and put it right?

Also, has anyone upgraded their mirrors to the heated versions that Chims and Griffs seem to sometimes have?
