Re wiring front lights
Discussion
I have to re wire the front lights, fog lights and indicators as I have an intermittent problem or break in the wire. Can I just use standard automotive wire to run from the lights to the connectors? As the connectors are open to the elects are there any waterproof ones I can replace them with while I am at it?
Earth points and connections are more likely points of failure than the wiring itself, but once you start replacing connectors you may find you need to go back a long way into the loom to get back to sound copper. I like the ITT Cannon brand SureSeal connectors sold by Farnell because they have a pretty good current rating and are very compact, but there are plenty of other waterproof connectors around that I'm sure would do just as well.

Car Builder Solutions now stock a wider range of connectors, many of which were not available when Phillpot did that mod, worth looking at their site. If you dont know them, you should, very good to deal with.

What a coincidence this should pop up tonight, since fitting that trailer plug and socket I've also fitted a pair of relays so steering column switches and so on are only carrying very low current.Bought this ready wired jobbie but wiring was a bit odd, no main beam flash if dip beam on?
So few days ago pulled it all apart and re-wired "my way" and, getting back to the coincidence, yesterday I used the S for work so I could have a midnight blat home and see how good my headlights actually are.
Combined with a pair of Nightbreaker bulbs I was well impressed, compared well with many of the new cars I drive these days with their fancy headlamps
