Couple of questions...
Discussion
Hi all - well the weather has improved enough for me to being starting up on the re-build again...so a couple of questions...
Firstly, can anyone point me in the direction of a supplier of the gaskets for the fuel rail/plenum...the 'double/square' ones...

Also, a rather dumb question...where does the end of the seat belt fasten to???

Finally, the seatbelt 'reels' have completely wound in...anyone know how to release them....thinking about it, it might be worth looking at new belts completely. Can anyone point me in the direction of a supplier?
Many thanks in advance
Cheers
Jaye

Can't help with an answer about the gaskets, but I seem to remember that there was/ is a discussion on here about seat belts. From memory, and I could be wrong,I seem to remember Punto seat belts being discussed. I hope I have remembered this correctly as I know where there is a scrap Punto that I can remove the seat belts from when I eventually get round to starting my S1 rebuild!
Hi Jaye
Gaskets: If your local Ford dealer no longer stocks them, try decent motorfactors or these guys:
http://stores.ebay.co.uk/GASKETS-for-CLASSICS
Seat belts: The end that you pictured is bolted through the body tub and picks up the load spreader "tongue" welded to each rear outrigger ( the one that body tub "sits' on at the front of each rear inner arch. )
The reference to Punto or Peugeot seatbelts was IIRC just to replace the seat belt stalks with these shorter ones, as the TVR ones tend to catch your ribs.
The jammed inertia reel mechanism should release if you orientate it a certain way ( trial and error? ) and shock it with a soft mallet. But don't break the plastic bits!
Good luck!
Glen

Which Punto and which Peugeot receivers work as I bought a 307 one as a trial fit and the standard belt would not engage.
I think it was Peugeot 309, but that is from my oft-unreliable memory.
ISTR it was Richard ( greymrj ) who found the Punto stalks were suitable, but not sure which model year. Possibly 1990 ish?

Thanks for the gasket link - I shall check them out...
Sorry for being thick...but the seat belt anchor point (as per picture) does this fasten to the 'upright' part of the load spreader or the 'horizontal' (under the tub) bit???
I presume that the sealtbelt 'reel' attaches to which ever (upright or horizontal) that the anchor doesn't...
Just want to make sure I get things the correct way round....took hundreds of photos when I took the car apart...apart from the bloody interior when we took the body off

Thanks in advance
Cheers

All it needs is a little search
Seat belt reel is bolted through the front of the rear wheel arch (at the bottom) and the spreader plate welded onto the back of the outriggers.
The loose end in your original pic bolts out through the inner sill into a bracket with a weld nut on it which is welded on top of the outrigger side tubes. Positioned about 4" (probably less?) Forward from the seat belt reel mounting.

B= InertiaReal (it will unwind but takes a bit of jiggling)
C= other end

Hi Jaye,
You can replace the whole seat belts - reel and buckle for about £40 a pair.
I changed mine earlier this year with something like this (but in red) - just check the buckle length as they come in different lengths.

Hope the car's put back together soon.

Found some gaskets yet Jaye?
If you're struggling to get just those you need (some suppliers may only offer a full top end set) let me know,

Still struggling to find a supplier for the individual gaskets, so if you don't need those I'd be very happy to send some beer tokens your way

Cheers
