So I am a stoopid person; pressed out the lower bushes fine, but in doing the upper wishbone (without the cross beam strengthener), I have bent it a bit. Not much, but i don;t think bending it back is sensible, basically I need a new N-S upper wishbone. Plenty of ads for bushes, but not the actual parts.

Can anyone help, please,

How much did it bend from original shape?

Mild steel is pretty malleable, and if it's "not much" as you say then I'd at least have a go at straightening the part you have before splashing out on a new one.

You must have been applying a lot of force to have bent the wishbone, just to get the bushes out.
As mentioned above, if it's not too badly deformed, a repair should be possible.

Thanks for the replies. Straightened it with a bottle jack, seems ok.

Would still be interested to hear if anyone makes replacements.

Easily done with a press, that's why I use a blowtorch and studding/nuts!

That looks like left hand/ nearside to me.

My wishbones have shims at the top where the ball joint bolts in, to adjust castor angle. When I had a little bump a few years back and needed a replacement lower wishbone I ended up buying a pair (from an S2 I think). The gap was narrower, ball joint fits but no room for shims.

Me too - the front arm is longer than the rear one, so that the top balljoint is set backwards from the lower one, to give a castor angle (subject to fine adjustment with shims, as you say).

That still looks like the same side, Nige! wink

Simon could have done with a n/s lower wishbone a couple of weeks ago...

Your not wrong Glen
That one looks totally different to ours. (V8s)
Proven very strong you must have used a lot of force to bend it.

That's a LOWER wishbone.

Nige's is an UPPER wishbone.

They are different on all S's.

Right, with the fundamentals out of the way, it should also be added that the V8S ones (and S4C) are slightly different, because they have a slightly wider track. That's not a difference you're going to see in a photo though.

The obvious difference in a photo is that the arms are straight on a v8 one (both of them, top and bottom) and curved on a v6

So they are! Hadn't noticed that before.
