I know Greymrj and possibly others have been looking at trim materials to match/replace the original Ambla (switch off now if you're all posh and only have leather.)

I did get samples from BAS Ltd in Wales as suggested on the recent hood trimming post, and while my TVR magnolia 'Doeskin T419' is a good colour match for their 'doeskin' sample, the fabric is different. Although a similar pattern, the 'ridges' and grooves are more pronounced and a slightly bolder pattern than the sample.

Undeterred I may have found another potential supplier and have some samples on the way so I'll update when I have more info.

Thanks for that, I remain very interested.

A few years ago now my seats were restored by my trimmer friend in Preston (Roy, not Dave like all the others!!) . We bought in some Ambla and noticed the same thing, the pattern was the same but the embossing was a little more pronounced. Apparently rollers wear and new rollers are made so differences in the embossing could well be due to that and nothing more.

Forgot to add, in view of your comment re leather. Got into a BMW 3 series cabrio with black leather seats. Top down on a sunny day!! Not much good if you have to put towels on the seats so your privates dont get boiled! eek I learnt that lesson long ago, black leather seats and convertibles is NOT a good option.

Got a sample sheet from a company called Martrim. Looks the same as the other one, but they seem to have a good range of the vinyl type fabrics.

Do you want me to send it to you Richard?
