Hello! Thank you for your welcome!I'm a classic car addict from Antibes. Several week ago, after two month of short nights, I sold my daily MG B GT for a TVR S-Series. I never drove this car, worth, I never saw one, but I was sur that this was the car i needed.
After several looks at pistonheads, I bought this low mileage 1990 S2 (63000 miles). Fun fact, its previous owner drove it in Antibes for several years before bringing it back to uk! It had a full body of chassis rebuilt two years ago, an engine rebuilt and a new clutch. At the end of july, I drove it back to France, without big issues. I learned to love this car: the sound, the ride, and its fantastic handling!
Few days later, my fuel pump started leaking, so I changed it. And yesterday, I met the swirl tank... In fact, its cap wasn't tightened enought, so it started leaking. I tried to drive back to my garage, but in one minute after starting the engine, the temperature was rechaing the red line. In fact, I red on Steve Heath book that it has to be completly full when I was told previously that it had to be filled at its third...

I'll look at the car tonight, but I hope I did not broke the cylinder head gasket...

Lovely looking car Hugo.
Welcome to Pistonheads; we are a friendly bunch on here and will help with whatever questions you have, do not be afraid to ask.
A group of us S owners have an annual Euro tour, in fact we are about to start it tomorrow (Scotland this year). In the past we have travelled to Italy, Switzerland, France, Germany, Belgium and Holland in our S's. It would be good to meet you and see your lovely car some time soon.

Thank you for your welcome!
Yes, It would be nice! Of course, if some of you are coming to Antibes, I will be pleased to meet you. Anyway, I think I'll join you on one of your tours. It is a thing I discivered with the TVR, it is a really great long distance machine!
If you mind I have two things to ask:
- Do you know if the head gasket are strong? How can we know that they are broken? I have been checking my oil dipstick and no trace of mix with water, as my temperature gague went several tims on the red, i suppose it's got a big shock.
- My engine isn't iddling smoothly when I accelerate strongly, it seems to have some misfires, is it a sensor that have to be changed, is it normal?

There are worse places to be stranded................Love Antibes!!
Me too, if I'm not in Toulouse I am probably in Antibes/Juan les Pins..Bonjour Hugo,

Thanks! It seems to be exactly like my car. I'll look for this article and I'll try the same!https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
Hey Hugo! I see TVRees has just pointed you in the direction on my post about curing an idling problem. Fame at last!
I wouldn't consider myself any sort of 'expert', but I hate things that don't work properly and don't give in easily. I'm also new to TVR / S3 ownership. I was lucky enough to acquire a well-used and well maintained car, but I guess there are always jobs to be done... If you'd like any more details of what I did, just let me know.
I've never really fiddled with a car that has an EFI / EMU system before and there are a lot of bits that are not familiar to me. However, I have to say that once you get stuck in, it's not as daunting as it might seem at first. Yesterday's job was the valve clearances, and again it was no big deal and the engine is now quieter and seems smoother. If this morning's fog clears, I'll go and find out for real what difference it's made.
