TVR S2 suspension replacement
Discussion
Hi All,
The front and rear springs on my TVR S2 (1990) are the originals and have corroded and sagged so much that the bonnet won’t open.
I need to replace them, but was after some advice.....
1) has anyone upgraded etc and have a full set laying around?
2) change just the springs or dampers too?
3) seen on eBay gaz full set of springs and adjustables for £525 anyone had any experience? Seems expensive but I’ve never replaced suspension on a car so don’t know if that’s a good or bad price.
Thanks for your help.
Gary

Hi
I agree with Joe above - read the various threads on suspension springs and dampers.
Find out if there are S owners close by and see if you can have a run out in their cars as a passenger and see how the different set ups work on the road
Changing the springs is the cheapest option but would be best to check the state of the dampers too - what mileage has the car?
decide what you want to use the car for (Road only, road and track, mainly track) that will point towards the stiffness of the springs.

and I thought I was tight
A set of springs won't set you back much, if you know what you want? ....... take your choice
If your shocks are the originals they won't have adjustable seats (and they may be well past their best) so getting spring length correct will be critical to getting the ride height you want
